According to change in competition schedule, 61 competitors representing 18 countries and area are eligible for the Semi-Finals of the 4th SHANGHAI IBC as shown in the name list which is downloadable below.

4th SHANGHAI IBC postponed

Dear Sir or Madam,

We regret to inform you that the 4th SHANGHAI INTERNATIONAL BALLET COMPETITION has to be postponed for reason beyond our concern.

The 4th SHANGHAI IBC will take place at Shanghai Oriental Arts Center from August 9-20, 2007.

Dear Sir/Madam,

It is my great pleasure to extend my warmest welcome to young dancers to participate in the 4th SHANGHAI INTERNATIONAL BALLET COMPETITION, CHINA (SHANGHAI IBC). It is a golden opportunity for you to manifest ballet talent and enjoy a remarkable experience in this foremost competition in Shanghai.

Under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture of P.R. China, International Dance Council CID UNESCO, and International Dance Committee ITI UNESCO, the 4th SHANGHAI IBC will take place in Shanghai from June 28 to July 6, 2007.

Since the first SHANGHAI IBC premiered in 1995, it has attracted 300 competitors from over 20 countries. It is a golden opportunity to manifest ballet talent and enjoy a remarkable experience. The 4th SHANGHAI IBC will be organized by Shanghai Municipal Government and take place at Shanghai Oriental Arts Center with Opening Ceremony at Shanghai Grand Theatre.

The 4th SHANGHA IBC consists of two phases:

Preliminary Competition in the form of DVD Selection, application deadline is April 1, 2007.

Semi-finals and Finals will take place in Shanghai from June 28 to July 6, 2007.

The Grand Prix Award is up to USD$10,000. We will provide and pay hotel accommodation, food and transportation for competitors in Shanghai. In addition, overseas competitors entering Semi-finals will receive airfare assistance as below:

From Asia: $300 per person
From other areas: $700 per person

Prize winners of International Ballet Competitions under the auspices of CID-UNESCO and ITI-UNESCO may be exempt from DVD Selection, such as Ballet Competitions in Jackson, New York, Helsinki, Lausanne, Varna, Moscow, Nagoya, Seoul, etc.

An introduction to the 4th Shanghai IBC

Under the auspices of International Dance Council CID UNESCO, International Dance Committee ITI UNESCO and the Ministry of Culture of P.R. China, the 4th Shanghai International Ballet Competition (SHANGHAI IBC) will take place in Shanghai from June 28 to July 6, 2007.

Designated by the Ministry of Culture of P.R. China, Shanghai International Ballet Competition is the only official international dance competition in China. The 4th competition will be organized by Shanghai Municipal Government. Since the first competition premiered in 1995, the SHANGHAI IBC has dedicated itself to the advancement of the enchanting art of ballet:

  • To provide a genuine opportunity for dancers to manifest their ballet talent;
  • To foster international cultural exchange and cooperation;
  • To represent the temper of preservation and propagation of ballet;
  • To encourage educational activities between the professional community and the public.

The 4th SHANGHA IBC consists of two phases:

Preliminary Competition is in the form of DVD Selection, deadline of application is April 1, 2007;

Semi-finals and Finals will take place in Shanghai from June 28 to July 6, 2007.
