PHASE I: Preliminary Competition
Each applicant must submit to the Competition Office a videotape or DVD of himself/herself performing in a studio. Practice clothes must be worn in the video, not costumes.
- Content
Each applicant must choose one pas de deux (adagio, variation and coda) for couples, or two variations for soloists from the obligatory classical ballet repertoire.
- Format: VHS NTSC/PAL, DVD
1. Please ensure the quality of the videotape or DVD.
2. Please clearly indicate on both the videotape or DVD label and its case, applicant's name and division, title of work and date the recording was made.
3. Excerpts of live performances are not acceptable.
4. The videotape or DVD must be shot in panoramic perspective to ensure the authenticity. Tracking shot, switchback or any edit to the recording are not acceptable.
5. The videotape or DVD must represent the true performance of the applicant concerned. Any deception related to this regulation will result in expulsion from the competition, the cancellation and required revocation of any subsequent award.
- Deadline
The videotape or DVD and application forms shall be received by the Competition Office of SHANGHAI IBC no later than April 1, 2007. Applications received later than the above date are deemed invalid. All application materials will not be returned.
Approximately 60 applicants will be selected to participate in the second phase of the competition. The decision of the Selection Committee of SHANGHAI IBC shall be final and without appeal.
Eligible applicants for the SHANGHAI IBC will be notified no later than May 1, 2007 in written form and on the official website of the SHANGHAI IBC as well. These applicants will participate in Shanghai Semi-finals & Finals, August 9 - 22, 2007.
PHASE II: In Shanghai Semi-Finals and Finals
- Semi-finals
- Two variations and one contemporary solo for soloists
- One pas de deux and one contemporary duet for couples
- Finals
- Two variations and one contemporary solo for soloists
- One pas de deux and one contemporary duet for couples
1. Classical pieces in Semi-Finals and Finals must be chosen from the obligatory classical ballet repertoire.
2. Classical pieces in Semi-Finals or Finals may be the same performed in the preliminary competition.
3. Classical and contemporary pieces performed in Finals must not be the same as performed in Semi-finals.
4. The contemporary piece should not exceed 6 minutes.
5. Original contemporary pieces are eligible for a choreography award.
