  • Stage appearance
  • 1. The order of appearance on stage will be determined by drawing of numbers.

    2. The Junior Division will precede the Senior Division in competition. For couples, the female competitor's number will be used. This order of appearance on stage will remain throughout the competition.

    3. If a partner is eliminated, he or she must continue to appear as a partner in the Finals and the Awards Gala.

    4. No flammable, explosive, water or salt is permitted on the stage. Nude performance is not permitted.

    5. The competition of Semi-finals and Finals, the Awards Presentation and Awards Gala will take place in the Opera Hall at Shanghai Oriental Art Center (Address: 425 Ding Xiang Road, Pudong New Area, Shanghai). The stage dimensions are 15m x 15m. The Opening Ceremony will be held at Shanghai Grand Theatre (Address: 300 People's Avenue, Shanghai).

    6. Competition performances in Semi-finals and Finals are open to the public.

    7. Competitors must furnish their own costumes and make-up.

  • Music
  • 1. Competitors must provide their own pre-recorded CDs or mini disks for Semi-Finals and Finals respectively and submit them to the Competition Office at their registration.

    2. Two CDs or two mini discs are required for each competition in Semi-Finals and Finals. Competitors are responsible for all recordings submitted of performance quality.

    3. Clearly indicate on the cover of CDs or mini discs, the competitor's name and division, title of the piece, and whether it is for Semi-Finals or Finals.

    4. A separate CD is required for rehearsal.

  • Jury
  • 1. Competitors will be judged by an international jury of 9 members.

    2. The Jury shall comply with the rules of SHANGHAI IBC.

    3. Each juror will vote individually for each competitor in each competition.

    4. The score is based on a 10-point system.

    5. The Jury reserves the right to withhold any award or to divide an award if a tie occurs.

    6. Decisions of the Jury shall be final and without appeal.

  • Awards Gala
  • 1. The Awards Gala will be held after the Awards Presentation.

    2. Prize winners and their partners must agree to perform in the Awards Gala performance on August 21, 2007 without any payment.

    3. Programs of the Awards Gala performances will be decided by the Jury.

  • Travel and Housing
  • 1. Overseas competitors entering Semi-Finals in Shanghai will receive the following airfare assistance:

    • From Asia: US$300
    • From other areas: US$700

    2. The SHANGHAI IBC will provide and pay for lodging, food and transportation for each competitor entering Semi-Finals from August 9 - 22, 2007 at noon in Shanghai. Competitors who have been eliminated in Semi-Finals are invited to stay during the entire competition at NO COST.

    3. Special rates for lodging are available for partners, coaches and family members during the competition. Advance reservations are required. For information, please contact the Competition Office.

    4. The SHANGHAI IBC will not be responsible for lodging, food or transportation not specified by the SHANGHAI IBC.

  • Registration Date and Fee
  • 1. Competitors entering in Shanghai Semi-Finals must arrive in Shanghai on August 9, 2007. to register and pay the registration fee.

    2. The registration fee is US$100, nonrefundable.

  • Rehearsal
  • 1. Daily rehearsal room will be provided. Stage rehearsal will be provided prior to the competition.

    2. Daily training classes will be provided for competitors and non-competing partners.

  • Rights of the SHANGHAI IBC
  • 1. The SHANGHAI IBC reserves the exclusive right to recording, broadcasting, photography, press interviews, printing, producing, selling of photos and video recordings of competitors' performance, including the Opening Ceremony and the Awards Gala during the 4th SHANGHAI INTERNATIONAL BALLET COMPETITION, CHINA. The competitors shall not receive any royalty or payment for recording, broadcasting, photography, press interviews and all the above-mentioned designated by SHANGHAI IBC.

    2. All matters regarding the copyright of composers, choreographers and others concerning the works performed by the competitors in the overall competition are to be arranged by the competitors themselves. The SHANGHAI IBC shall not be held responsible for unsettled copyrights.

    3. The SHANGHAI IBC reserves the right to interpret the Rule for participation in the 4th Shanghai International Ballet Competition.

  • Insurance
  • The competitors are responsible for their own insurance. The SHANGHAI IBC shall not be responsible for any injury, accident or loss occurring during travel and participation in the competition.
